What can the FeederScout do?
|
The FeederScout determines a suitable metering
feeder for your bulk ingredient on the basis of
decades of feeding tests run in the test lab of
Brabender Technologie and the knowledge thus
gained about the flow characteristics of bulk in-
gredients. The resulting specific screw filling
levels and conveyance efficiencies of several
thousand bulk ingredients have been summed
up in a variety of bulk ingredient types with the
according flow characteristics and have been
stored in our database.
On the basis of the data you have entered in
the input mask the program determines the
best suitable feeder. If several feeder types
qualify for a choice, the program compares
them with respect to optimum suitability of their
respective agitation methods. At the same time
it also checks whether the weighing system of
the feeder meets the requirements. It then tells
you its preferred choice in due consideration of
technical and commercial aspects.
This is much more precise than a selection
using only the data sheets ("Brabender Works
Standards", available under "Data Sheets" as
PDF files) because a Works Standard only lists
up the theoretically achievable feed rates. Screw
filling levels, restrictions to the turndown ratio
and weigh-technical limitations are aspects you
always have to appraise yourself.

What can the FeederScout not do?
|
Feeding trials in our test lab become necessary
where bulk ingredients cannot be assigned to a
type of bulk ingredient or if the flow character-
istics under production conditions cannot be
assessed precisely enough (bulk densities de-
termined in a test lab often differ from effective
densities in a feeder). Therefore please use the
hints and assistance provided under

beside the drop down menus as well as the auto-
mated contact possibility for data sheet requests
and quotation inquiries. Following an inquiry you
will receive a quotation that also includes a suit-
able controller, and you will also get further ad-
vice (e. g. about alternative feeders that may
suit your purpose).
Explosion proofing The input mask does not allow requests for an
explosion-proof feeder. However, in almost all
cases the feeders can also be offered for explo-
sion hazardous areas. If this is impossible be-
cause of screw speeds that may be turned up to
speeds that are not permissible, the program will
inform you about it. In this way you avoid having
to change the type of feeder later in such cases
where the necessity of explosion proofing is
specified in a later planning phase. If this hap-
pens, please contact us so that we can offer you
an alternative feeder.
