Since 1 January 2008 "Low Emission Zones"  ("Umweltzone") have been established in many
urban areas in Germany to prevent air pollution.
Motor vehicles - also those from abroad - are not
allowed in these zones unless provided with envi-
ronmental badges (windscreen stickers) certifying
low emission of respirable dust. Motorways are
exempt. As of 1 October 2008, large areas in
Duisburg have been declared "Low Emission
Zones". Brabender Technologie KG is also located
in such a zone. As a result, motor vehicles leaving
the motorway on their way to Brabender may not
drive any further unless provided with environ-
mental badges. Motorists driving in "Low Emission
Zones" without badges risk a fine of 40 Euro.
Hence, visitors to Brabender Technologie KG are
asked to make sure they are in possession of environmental badges before setting out.
